Question by : Does anyone have a collection of maps etc. for single track mountain bike trails?
I recently picked up the sport of riding single track mountain bike trails. I’m looking to expand my track options. Currently I’m located in Missouri and that’s where I do most of my riding. I would be interested in knowing where others are, even if they are out of state.

Question by worldwide3rider: Is a road bike alot more demanding on your back than a mountain bike?
I heard something that a road bike is much more taxing on your back than a mountain bike and I am thinking of giving up my MTB for the road

A road bike is comfortable if and only if you get the right size. I ride both and have had more problems with my wrists going numb on my mountain bike. Keep the mountain bike and just get a road bike, it’s nice to switch back and forth.

Durango is a hot bed of cycling in Colorado, but all the mountain based cities have active clubs, great access to trails, and an abundant number of riders. The state is filled with outdoor enthusiasts. Be it cycling, skiing, hiking, or climbing. It is a great outdoors state!

Question by MAC: What is a good mountain bike for light use on easy trails?
Not an experienced or hardcore mountain biker. Just looking to do some easy trail riding. Been doing research on mountain bikes and need a second opinion. Not looking to spend a lot, since I am not that serious, yet. Found this one on craigslist, but like I said, very little knowledge. http://honolulu.craigslist.org/big/bik/2592812328.html Any and all thoughts are appreciated. I’m male, 6’1.

It appears to be a 2005 model that sold for under 0, so it is somewhat overpriced. The question is if it is your size. It looks as if the frame might be too small for you, you would have to measure to see if it would work for you. You also have to be able to assess mechanical condition in a 6 year old bike. Needed repairs could add quite a bit to your cost.

Question by Nichi: Is a mountain bike good for tricks ?
I currently own a full suspension mountain bike. It’s excellent on rough terrain, but when I try making trick I can’t lift it enough or i fall. For example, I tried to make an endo, but the bike or doesn’t lift enough or it lifts to much. It could be my fault, but tell me if it is a popper bike for this task. And what tricks should I try ?

it all depends on the type of tricks youre planning on doing
if your gonna be doin flipps and 360s and everything it wouldnt matter
but a mountain bike has attached wires that makes barspins and tailwhips virtually impossible

A “decent mountain bike” will come from a real bicycle shop – not a discount or big box store. Google “bicycle shop” including your zip code. Brings them all up in your area.
A good mountain bike will have an 8 speed rear “cassette” cog – not a 7 speed “freewheel”. It will also have double walled rims. Things like disc brakes & a front fork with 100mm of travel & the “lock-out” feature will just make it better. You’re looking at 0 – 0 from a bike shop.
Another alternative is Bikes Direct only if you can assemble a bike yourself & know what frame size you need. Link below. I would still suggest going to a real bike shop 1st. With Internet sales – you can’t TRY B4 you BUY.

Question by Nevada Outdoor Enthusiast: What is a good, but cheap mountain bike brand/model?
A good mountain bike for riding on rough dirt trails. Does NOT have to be light-weight, but needs to be tough and sturdy, but not pricey. Ideally a brand/model that will have alrge frame for a large guy.
